'Both Sides Were Ready' – Golden State Warriors’ Situtation With Jonathan Kuminga Gets An Update

The Golden State Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga are ready to part ways as they look for a sign-and-trade opportunity. However, there hasn’t been a viable trade partner for the Warriors. The top team that’s been rumored to make a move to land Kuminga is the Sacramento Kings. However, neither team has made any progress on the forward’s future.

It’s been part of the expectation for the Warriors that they’ll let go of Kuminga, especially after they acquired All-Star forward Jimmy Butler in the middle of the 2024-25 season. After they traded for Butler, it’s clear that the young forward didn’t have a spot in the rotation. Even when he was healthy last season, head coach Steve Kerr opted for him to be on the bench.

On Sunday, NBA insider Jake Fischer gave an update on the Golden State Warriors’ case with Kuminga.

“Both sides were ready to part ways. Except, no trade has come together,” Fischer reported.

“Sacramento has been the name most often linked to Kuminga, but no deal is reportedly even close to being finalized.
